SWEC Campaign to Revise NASW Code of Ethics

The Social Work Equity Campaign (SWEC) has been organizing to update the National Association of Social Work (NASW) Code of Ethics since 2020.

Currently (April 2023), SWEC is focused on a petition for NASW's 2023 Delegate Assembly (DA) to consider adopting the Social Worker Equity Campaign’s (SWEC) proposed revisions to the NASW Code of Ethics at its tri-annual meeting in October 2023.

NASW’s National Board has denied a request to discuss the Code revisions and this petition is an appeal to that decision. The appeal requires that SWEC collect signatures from 3% of NASW members - a total of 3,232 members.

SWEC's overall stated goal with the revisions is so that the principles of the NASW Code of Ethics "affirm the right of social workers to fight collectively for improved working conditions and better incomes".
