October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). 

 

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit employers and employees.

History

The awareness month was officially declared by the US Congress in 1988 and was an extension of a disability employment awareness week started in 1945.

 

The US Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy coordinates NDEAM each year.
